Week Notes 26#17&18

  • It happend. Even though I am home alone with the dog, while E and Baby-En are in Germany for a wedding, I missed/skipped one week. I realised on Wednesday and decided I will just do a double week today. So what happend?
  • The plan was to do some work on the car… I actually did some work, but less than I would have wanted. BUT we do now have some insulation on the walls!
  • I also did some work around the house like cleaning the windows, finishing the dog cave, fixing the splinter on the terrace, protecting the new-ish apple tree,…
  • I also went on a couple of longer walk with some friends. At least on those days that were nice. We again had some snow and a lot of rain.
  • The rest of the time was mostly work and a lot of sofa time :)

  • Second week of work already feels normal again
  • El and Baby-En went for a longer trip to Germany so me and Krümel are home alone
    • My plan is to do some work on the car and around the house now that I have some extra time with no baby around
    • But it is very hard to get myself to do something. Weather is so nice I’d rather do something else than being productive
  • Went for a nice walk with a friend Sunday night. Perfect weather for a walk in the woods. A bit windy, no clouds and around 15 degrees :)

Week Notes 26#15

  • My first week back at the office
    • The first two days felt a bit off. No little kids noise. No cuddling. No playing on the ground. No kids songs.
    • I think I still don’t realize that this time is over now. It was way too short. I am looking forward to those weekends now, even more.
    • The rest of the week was filled with me getting up to speed on what is going on here and setting up some WiFi/BLE APs and a new Server.
  • Also another big change on the tech side here is: I have switched to hugo.
    • I am no JavaScript developer. I needed to lookup too much for just creating a website.
    • So, hugo it is. It’s quite simple, fast, and way less of a hype-topic. Which means I am less tempted in testing out new stuff. Now I just need to unsubscribe from some Astro things so I will not try and switch back :)
    • It’s not yet fully functional and some indieweb features are still missing, but starting Thursday I will have 2,5 weeks without wife and kid. So I’ll have some time to finish this. And start on the camper!

  • Started the week with a trip to a friends cabin nearby. The plan was to enjoy some vacation until I need to go back to work.
    • The cabin is just 1,5h south of Trondheim, so the trip was short
    • When we arrived there was more snow than we expected and the road we were planning to take was not drivable (and we learned later that it was closed). After some troubles getting the snow-chains on the car we had a call with our friend and decided to try a different entry to the whole area. The other entry worked, even though I am now 100%-sure that our next car needs AWD.
    • The cabin was nice and quite. Perfect to enjoy some final family days before work. But my allergies kicked in, Baby-En slept really bad, which made us tired as f*ck and the cabin was obviously not baby-proof which is quite exhausting when you have a baby that just learned to walk while holding on to stuff.
    • So all in all we decided to cut the trip short and drove back on Thursday. BUT we told us that until Sunday (the day we wanted to go back) we were not allowed to do anything off of our TODO-list. So basically enjoy vacations at home. This worked great!
  • For the rest of the week we went on some walks, had a lovely easter lunch at a friends place. (Vegan) chicken on waffles. Apparently a very American dish. It sounds very weird but was actually quite good.
  • Let’s see how next week will go. Monday is still of due to easter but Tuesday I’ll be back at work. First time since september that I will not spend most of my day with Baby-En :/

  • New Battery for the electric car - worked like a charm. Note to myself: Make sure the car is properly started before leaving the AC on for the dog…
  • Had a lovely dinner with my colleagues at Olivia’s in Trondheim. It was nice catching up with some of them before I will join them again after easter.
    • It made me realise, that my parental leave is almost over…
  • We were planning to go to a friends cabin on the weekend and stay until or over easter, but planning and packing with a kid takes way longer than expected. So, we took the weekend to enjoy time together at home and will leave on Monday.

Week Notes 26#12

  • Wednesday was a lovely sunny day, so we met up with a friends for coffee in the city
  • Saturday was not sooo lovely but I took Baby-En and met up with a friends for coffee and food while El had an appointment at the hair salon
    • I spend some time walking through the city with Baby-En and managed to get him some new Patches to pimp up his shirts. We have one from The Offspring, one that says “Vegan AF” and the last one says “Vegan Future”
  • Sunday we were invited for dinner at a friends place. Chili and Cornbread. Very tasty.
    • I learned the hard way, that the 12V battery is very important even in an electric car… So one of our friends drove us home and I need to come back tomorrow with a new battery.
    • Nothing worked. I tried to start the car, when I was still able to see some information on the board computer. But nothing happend. Then the displays went dark and the only icon I could see was the one that tells me that the key was not detected in the car. And even that icon disappeard after a while. Only some of the beeps were still hearable. We couldn’t even lock the car anymore :)

  • Finished Stranger Things
    • It was a good series, but I don’t really have a strong opinion about the last season.
    • In general I liked the whole thing, even though I was never really invested in it after the first season.
  • The rest of the week was not as nice - but this is more on the personal side. I might share it in the near future, or not…

  • Quite uneventful week - just some errand runs in the city with Baby-En
  • It’s starting to get warmer up here. Most of the days are above 0 now and the snow starts to melt
  • Went for a lovley walk in the woods all together
  • I finally started to watch the last season of Stranger Things
    • After that I will watch The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
    • I am trying to not get spoiled and I needed to skip a couple of podcast episodes

Week Notes 26#9

  • The week started off very quite with me and Baby-En just enjoying some time at home together
  • BUT, El and I finished Dark. It was a great show but both of us thought that they rushed the last season.
  • All 3 of us went to the Lønningspils which was organized by one of Els colleagues.
    • Baby-En enjoyed his first visit to a pub
    • He was the center of attention and of course wanted our food instead of his own. So he tasted some of our sweetpotato fries.
  • On the weekend we celebrated Baby-Ens 1st birthday
    • A lot of people came (including his friend - who was able to come after all) and the house of full of kids and parents
    • Good thing we booked a daycare spot for Krümel for that day
    • I can’t believe it’s already been a year. El and I are watching “old” pictures and videos of En and both of us are suprised who fast he has grown. He is close to walking 🤯
  • Anyway, this also means my last month of parental leave has started. There are days when I look forward to a normal working day, but most of the time I am just happy to see him grow up and enjoy every small piece of the world around him. I am going to miss those days…

Week Notes 26#8

  • It’s been a very quite week of me painting one me piece of furniture in Baby-En room and waiting for it to dry
  • El and me are deep into the TV Show Dark
    • We never watched a Show were we needed to stop so often to talk about what just happened and to loosen some knots in our heads before continuing
    • We were so close to finishing it this week but us being tired made us stop and move the last two episodes to today
  • Sunday we went on a nice walk in Estenstadmarka. We got some fresh snow in the last couple of days and the sun was shining, so it was beautiful to walk through the forest. We were also almost by ourselves.
  • Next week is Baby-En first birthday
    • Sadly his only friend is not able to join but we invited some friends and colleagues for coffee and cake and booked a place at the dog hotel for Krümel
